LCDP Secures funding for Sensory Room

LCDP was successful in securing funding from Welsh Church Act fund to be able to develop a sensory room at Llanharan Drop in Centre. The work has now been completed by local contractor LML Electrics. The sensory room has enhanced the setting for the children and young people in our provisions to feel relaxed while attending our setting. The sensory room has had special lights and equipment to enable children and young people to feel the sensory benefits supporting their individual needs.

A sensory room is designed to develop a person’s senses, usually through special lighting, music, and objects. It can be used as a therapy for children with limited communication skills.

“The new sensory room has already proven to be a huge success with our children with additional needs, giving them a fun, enhancing, safe space to enjoy. They have used it non stop and the joy on their faces when playing in there proves how worthwhile and essential it is.

A fabulous new addition to the already amazing and inclusive facility that the Drop in Centre is”

Michaella Doughty Playworker

Rhian said, “The space has enhanced and provided a stimulating area for children with additional needs”

Rhian Symons Early Years and Childcare Officer

“The Sensory room has been a brilliant addition to LCDP and we have already witnessed the benefits it has provided for the children in our care. Alongside providing an area for children to explore their sensory needs it has been an invaluable space where all children can chill out and have some me time when needed”.
